DESTINY “THE TAKEN KING”

In 2015 I was hired to to oversee a series of game cinematics for the game “DESTINY”. As luck would have it I had been an avid player for some time prior to landing the job and it was unexpected to say the least. Over a years time I worked closely with Matthew Ward, then head of Cinematics at Bungie to bring these films to life.
In between mocap sessions at Bungie’s Seattle headquarters I was fortunate to see the inner workings of an elite game studio, which was incredible to say the least. The melding of technology, human behavior study with world class talent was on full display.
Along with supervising the project over all, I did a fair amount of character animation and lighting/ asset work on the campaign. It really was one of those dream come true projects. This clip was an animation test where I was exploring a more staccato action of the wings unfurling. Ultimately we went with the smoother version you see in the E3 trailer. I personally thought this was more interesting just because it was a different take on the action.
