Some of the things I do....

Visual Development
From Concept Art to Previs, this is where we incubate and iterate ideas that become reality.
Visual Effects Supervision
The planning and execution of a projects visual needs, beginning from early stage visual development through all phases of production and final delivery.
Second Unit Director
Capturing plates and shooting elements are an intrinsic part of the process. Owning the necessary gear and being a member of the DGA allows me to provide a complete service to a production at any tier.
Shot execution
With 3 decades of experience creating content, I bring an artist approach to every shot. Knowing what is needed allows for better decision making during planning and on set.

Visual Development

From conceptual design to polished look frames this is where we fire up the engine that will lead the way. You have a goal to achieve, and that goal needs to feel, needs to look a certain way. It needs to resonate with your audience. Finding and shaping the visual voice to meet these needs is at the heart of Visual Development.

My background is deeply rooted in practical effects and my first inclination is always“what can I shoot to make this work”. Having spent many years in miniature and in-camera fx I subscribe to”nothing is more real than real”. Having extensive experience in all facets of digital effects production, be it 2D compositing or complex 3D work, allows me to meet the needs of clients with confidence and efficiency regardless of the methodology. I work hard to provide peace of mind to the client so the process doesn’t feel like a black box.

My on-set experience is extensive and includes hdr capture, lidar scanning and texture reference photography. As someone with deep 3D and 2D hands on experience, I approach every shoot like I’m doing the work myself, insuring that at the end of the day I leave with what I need to be successful.

As an experienced Director and member of the DGA,I love opportunities to contribute behind camera.

As a Visual Effect Supervisor I am always looking at ways to get as much in camera as possible. A large part of this is shooting plates and elements. From crowd tiles to pyro to whatever is needed to get to the finish line.

I absolutely love working on shots. To this day putting on a pair of headphones and lighting a shot, doing a matte painting or working on character animation remains as artistically fulfilling today as it did 20 plus years ago when I made the full transition to the digital side of the fence.

I am highly proficient in most 3d applications and render engines and use Nuke as my primary compositing software.  If you’d like to learn more about my experience please visit the “about me” section.

frequently asking questions

I forgot to take the lens cap off, can you help?!!!
Absolutely! There was a time when you'd be filling out an insurance claim. But not anymore! As long as you have a dump truck full of money we can recreate your scene digitally!
I know you are using greenscreen, but our wardrobe is all green. Is that going to be a problem?
Ha ha ha, not at all! We have a well stocked bar and our own private rage room back at the office just for these occasions!
